Create your account & sign in

Set up your Servtide account and organization in just a few minutes. You'll create a business account, verify your email, then access your dashboard. Returning users sign in with their email, password, and organization slug.

Go to the signup page

  1. Visit servtide.com (or your Servtide server URL)
  2. Click "Create an organization" link on the sign-in page, or navigate directly to /signup

Create your organization

  1. Fill in all five fields
  2. Click "Create organization"

What to enter

  • Business name — your company name (e.g., "Acme Plumbing")
  • URL slug — a short web-friendly name for your account (e.g., "acme-plumbing"). If you leave this blank, it auto-generates from your business name. This slug is how you'll sign in to your org later.
  • Trade — pick your industry: HVAC, Plumbing, Electrical, or General
  • Your email — the email address you'll use to sign in
  • Password — at least 8 characters

Tips

  • Pick a slug you'll remember — it's part of your sign-in and your team will see it
  • Your business name and colors can be changed anytime in Settings → Branding

Watch out

  • The slug must be unique — if you see "That organization slug is taken," try a different one (e.g., add a number or location)
  • Email addresses can only own one account. If you see that error, use a different email or sign in if you already have an account
  • Password must be at least 8 characters

You're in — check your dashboard

  1. You'll land on your Dashboard after signup. This is your command center for revenue, jobs, customers, and invoices.

Tips

  • You'll see a "Get set up" checklist showing 6 onboarding steps. You can click "Dismiss" to hide it anytime, but we recommend completing it.
  • The checklist appears on every login until all steps are done or you dismiss it.

Verify your email (optional but recommended)

Check your inbox for an email from Servtide
  1. Look for an email titled "Verify your Servtide email" in the inbox of the email you just signed up with
  2. Click the "Verify my email" link in the email
  3. You'll see a confirmation: "Email verified — you're all set."
  4. Click "Continue to sign in" to go back to the app

Tips

  • If you don't see the email, check your Spam or Promotions folder
  • Completing this step checks off "Verify your email" on the dashboard checklist

Watch out

  • The verification link expires after 24 hours. If it expired, you can request a new one after signing in.
  • Email verification is on the onboarding checklist. It's not required to use Servtide, but it's secure best practice.

Set up the essentials (onboarding checklist)

  1. On the dashboard, you'll see a checklist: Verify your email, Add your first customer, Create your first job, Send an invoice, Connect card payments, Customize your invoice template
  2. Each step shows a checkmark once done. Click any step to jump to it.

What to enter

  • Add your first customer: Click the step or go to Customers → New customer. Fill in name, email, phone, and company (optional).
  • Create your first job: Go to Customers, pick the customer you added, then create a job. Pick the job type and set a scheduled date.
  • Send an invoice: Go to Invoices → create one from your job. Send it to your customer.
  • Connect card payments: Go to Settings → Payments. You'll link Stripe (Canada). This lets you accept online payments.
  • Customize your invoice template: Go to Settings → Templates. Edit the default invoice template to add your logo, colors, and terms.

Tips

  • You can skip the checklist and use the app anytime — it's just a guide
  • Coming back later? The checklist will still be there on your dashboard

Brand your workspace (Settings → Branding)

  1. Fill in as much or as little as you like — all are optional
  2. Click "Save" at the bottom of each section
  3. See the preview on the right to watch your changes

What to enter

  • Company name — displayed throughout the app and on customer-facing pages
  • Primary colour — hex code or color picker (e.g., #2563eb for blue). Used for buttons and links.
  • Accent colour — hex code or color picker (e.g., #f97316 for orange). Used for highlights.
  • Logo — upload an image or paste a URL. Appears on the app header and customer pages.
  • Customer email sender — the 'From' name and email address for reminder and follow-up emails to customers. Must match a verified domain.

Tips

  • Your branding also applies to the mobile app and customer-facing pages (estimates, invoices, pay/approve links)
  • If you set a custom 'From' email (e.g., hello@acme.com), you'll need to verify that domain's DNS records. Instructions appear in the 'Email sending domain' section.
  • You can use the Servtide default (no custom branding) and come back to this anytime

Invite your team (Settings → Users)

  1. Click "Send invite"
  2. Your team member gets an email with a link to join
  3. They'll set up their password and land on the dashboard

What to enter

  • Email — team member's email address
  • Role / department — pick a role from the dropdown (e.g., Admin, Technician, Office Manager). Roles control what each person can do.

Tips

  • Only people with the 'settings.users' permission can invite team members (usually Owners and Admins)
  • You can change a team member's role anytime from the Users page

Watch out

  • You create and assign roles in Settings → Roles. Out of the box, you have Owner (you), Admin, Technician, and Office Manager.
  • Inviting someone is optional — you can run Servtide solo or add people anytime

Returning users: Sign in

  1. Visit servtide.com/login or click "Sign in" on the home page
  2. Enter all three fields
  3. Click "Sign in"
  4. You'll land on your dashboard

What to enter

  • Email — the email you signed up with
  • Password — your 8+ character password
  • Organization slug — the slug you created during signup (e.g., "acme-plumbing")

Watch out

  • All three fields are required — email alone won't work because one person can belong to multiple organizations
  • If you see 'Invalid email or password,' check your caps lock and make sure the password is correct
  • If you see 'That account isn't a member of that organization,' you're entering the right email and password but not a member of that slug. Double-check the slug.
  • Passwords are rate-limited to 10 attempts in 15 minutes for security

Forgot your password? Reset it

/login page — 'Forgot password?' link
  1. On the login page, click "Forgot password?"
  2. Enter your email address
  3. Check your inbox for "Reset your Servtide password"
  4. Click the link (expires in 1 hour)
  5. Enter a new password (8+ characters)
  6. Click "Reset password"
  7. Go back to /login and sign in with your new password

Tips

  • After you reset your password, you'll see a green notice at sign-in: 'Password updated — sign in with your new password.'

Watch out

  • Reset links expire after 1 hour
  • You can request up to 5 resets per email in 15 minutes

Done when

  • Complete signup form with business name, slug, trade, email, and password
  • Sign in to dashboard
  • Verify email from inbox (recommended)
  • Add first customer to Customers
  • Create first job from customer page
  • Send an invoice from Jobs
  • Connect Stripe in Settings → Payments
  • Customize invoice template in Settings → Templates
  • Brand your workspace in Settings → Branding
  • Invite team members in Settings → Users (optional)
  • All six onboarding checklist steps marked complete
